Mountain West Vintage Trials Association (MWVTA) was formed in early 2012, with the goal of promoting the sport of Vintage Observed Trials, and we are chartered by the American Motorcyclist Association. Our events are held in Colorado and New Mexico; with MWVTA members receiving season points for competing in the Mosteller Cup hosted by the Wyoming Motorcycle Trials Association.
Observed motorcycle trials began in the United Kingdom and are among the oldest forms of motorcycle competition. While the top riders of today’s modern trials are exciting to watch, vintage trials is fun competition that recreates those early years and nearly any rider can participate in.
MWVTA has classes for all levels of riders from novice to expert. And while MWVTA is a vintage focused club, our motorcycle classes include bikes manufactured from 1972 & earlier (Pre-Historic) through modern era (2000-present) bikes. All riders are welcome. Events are held over 2-days with an occasional 3-day event. This format provides maximum riding fun with less travel time & costs than holding several 1-day events, along with the camaraderie shared by fellow competitors after a day of riding.
Many of our members enjoy working on and restoring their motorcycles as much as riding events. For riders new to vintage trials, our members are a great source of knowledge and you can often find them helping other riders.
Anyone can ride a MWVTA event, however you must be an AMA member for insurance purposes. Only MWVTA members receive series points toward season standings.
Our annual membership fees are currently $30 individuals and $35 per family for a calendar year. Event fees are $60 per rider for a 2-day event.
